Tanning
Today's strapless wedding gowns almost beg for
a golden tan. If, however, you don't have the time or
temperament to spend hours in the sun there are a number of
products to help achieve the look you want.
Obviously there are tanning salons all over the
city. While these provide a tan, they carry the same risk of
damage from UV rays as actually being in the sun. Also, like
tanning in the sun, tanning beds take many visits to establish
a tan. If you elect to use tanning beds, you should begin
investigating salons at least 3 months before your wedding.
Many brides, however, are turning to sunless tanning products.
These range from tanning pills and accelerators, which are
generally ineffective, to sunless tans and bronzers. Bronzers
are usually used to get a temporary tanned appearance,
somewhat like a stain to the skin. They usually come off with
soap and water, may streak after application and when wet, may
stain clothing. Bronzers are best reserved to highlight the
face.
Sunless tans are quick and easy to apply,
although it is important to ensure even application over the
entire area. Some will begin showing results in as little as
30 minutes. Not only can you use sunless tanners over your
entire body, they also last longer than bronzers. In addition
to giving you a tan, sunless tanners are also excellent for
covering up strap lines and white spots. Generally sunless
tans will last 5 to 7 days and come in a variety of forms
including gels, lotions and mousse. The latest innovation in
sunless tanners is airbrushed tans, which gives an overall
even look. So for a golden glow without the risk of sunburn,
wrinkles and sun damage, investigate this new family of
sunless tanning.
